Our latest Continuum of Care Retirement Community is opening soon and we cannot wait to show you the completed work. Until then, please watch this short time-lapse of the construction progress courtesy of Aerialscapes and Walsh Group. It has been a long journey from initial concepts to the final work, but as usual, all good things are worth the wait.
Sheridan at Green Oaks is a continuum of care retirement community featuring a 1-story Memory Support, a 4-story Assisted Living and a 4-story Independent Living Building, all connected to create a unified community. This unique site presented SAS with interesting challenges which we had to address in the planning process. The site is adjacent to a forest preserve and features steep natural grades and a man-made pond. Positioning of the three buildings to provide continuity of circulation led to the creation of a new entry sequence that provides a panoramic view of the campus through the lobby and a two story dining room. The dining room offers expansive views to the existing forest preserve and building quad. SAS also collaborated with the developer and another architectural firm to create retail space adjacent to the Independent Living Building. Overall this development includes just under half a million square feet on a 39 acre site.
