On the Boards
Just wow! We can’t believe that June has come and gone. This month was busy from start to finish. It’s been fun collaborating with new clients, revisiting past projects, and working with our team to create a master plan for a corporate project.
This past week, we had a meeting to review two schemes for a potential beauty salon for an independent living facility. The finishes for the main building were selected well before the pandemic. It was fun to revisit and select schemes to coordinate with them. The main building is traditional with timeless finishes. The palette consists of soft neutral tones and warm wood throughout. We designed one scheme to be a bit more whimsical and the other more classic. See below and click to enlarge, which would you pick!?
Rep Round Up
- Coyne Associates with Tim Coyne, we were his first in person appointment since the pandemic. We reviewed all of the lines they carry, Arper and Cumberland have always been some of our favorites. Cumberland’s Isla collection really stood out – we like how the table complements the contour of the modular lounge pieces. Arper’s Mixu collection is very versatile and can be used in several environments.
- Rightsize with Patty Gountanis, we had a lunch appointment the week before the world shut down and we finally were able to reschedule. It was nice to catch up and meet in person. We haven’t had the opportunity to work together, as yet, and hope to explore possible future projects with them.
- MJ Solutions with Chris Janson, decided to break off on his own and rep several lines from various manufacturers. During his visit, he highlighted 3M and Frasch. We are familiar with 3M and their capabilities, but Frasch was new to us. It seems like there has been an influx in acoustical products, this past year. It’s nice to see the developments and innovation. We were impressed by the Stratawood collection as well as, the Grid solutions. We plan on pricing out some grid options for a corporate project we are working on!
- Roca Tile with Sarah Abutaleb, brought several tiles that would be fun accents to incorporate in projects. Some of our favorites were Forma, Zen, and Abbey Suite. We kept the deco tiles from the Momentum collection. The tiles have a bird graphic, as you can see from the scheme above, we presented to our client…but they didn’t warm up to the birds! We’ll have to try again on another project.

Happenings
On June 23rd, we ventured to Somme Woods in Northbrook for a Designer’s Market hosted by 10 vendors in our industry. This was the first market we attended and we loved it! Not only was it nice to see everyone in person, we accomplished a lot of work in a short amount of time. Big thank you to everyone for putting this together and treating us to several market finds!! We look forward to welcoming everyone back into our office for regular updates 🙂
