Spirit of God Church Addition South Holland, IL
The church campus has a rich history in the South Holland area, providing a place of worship and a school for the community for many years. The project involved an addition to the existing worship center to add better access to additional classrooms and spaces to hold separate, personalized care for young toddlers through youth aged children. The interior design proposed calm and airy color schemes that invoke a feeling of stability and celebration. Flooring selections were reminiscent of a journey + expectation at each turn. Classrooms were outfitted for each age group specifically and included a gradient carpet option which give a feeling of varied movement within each space. The furniture selections were also intended to maintain multi-functional configurations as needs may change over time and on different days. Additional interior design changes include an update to the sanctuary space and conversion of an existing lounge space into a servery at the main entry where coffee and personalized refreshments are provided to the church community. The cafe and coffee shop were completed in previous years, but the servery was added to increase access and ability to serve as a pre-function to events and worship held in the sanctuary.
