This renovation to an existing nursing home is an example of how meeting code compliance can result in improvement of overall building operations. The existing nursing home featured a wood porch which was not the same building classification as the rest of the building. The building also featured no entry sequence and inadequate dining space on the first floor. SAS demolished the porch to create a central, accessible entry into the facility and much needed expansion to the existing dining room. This building addition compliments the existing building’s exterior facade while adding stronger street presence to redefine the main building entrance.
