King Bruwaert House Burr Ridge, Illinois
This French Georgian community has been a beacon for care for seniors in Burr Ridge since 1933. The multi-phased project includes a 3-story, 49 apartment Independent Living building, a new 3-story, 26-bed skilled nursing and memory care addition and the renovation of their existing skilled nursing wings. The IL facility features a 2-story lounge connecting interior amenities on two floors that overlook landscaped courtyards and a new restaurant style dining room concept with an in-house care component. The Health Center addition was designed to mimic some of the “Small House” feel amenities with a common residential style kitchen, living room and dining room, designed in small neighborhoods. The focal point of the Health Center is a new porte cochere and vestibule with concierge for a new entry experience. The new work will complement the existing elegant finishes to seamlessly integrate the new with the existing KB House. Protection of old growth trees, new luscious landscaping, connecting old and new walks, and an underground garage maintains the aesthetic of the existing site for a fully wholesome living experience, in a “garden of care” and exemplifies the “KB Way.”
